Mollie Wilson Ostroski

Rhyme Time is the first book for the author, Duck Tape is her second and Santa’s Hat, is her third book by Authorhouse. In 2010 she created her own publishing company and launched a fourth book: Hooray for Heroes! A book of 13 biographical poems of women and men who impacted history. Included are: Mark Twain, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Paul Newman, Marian Anderson and others! She grew up near Detroit, Michigan, graduated from Eastern Michigan University, and now lives near Hartford, Connecticut in Farmington. This is a beautiful town on the Farmington River and home of Miss Porter’s School, the University of Connecticut Medical School and home her cat, Gizmo !

Mollie Wilson worked in Washington, D.C. on the staff of the late Senator Henry “Scoop” Jackson of Washington state, and later moved to Unionville, Connecticut to work for former Congressman Toby Moffett. While employed in the House and the Senate she researched and wrote on legislative issues impacting constituents. She attended the University of Maryland Paralegal Institute at the Library of Congress.

Wilson was a reporter and photographer for The Voice of the Valley, a Connecticut newspaper owned by The Bristol Press, before becoming an interpreter for deaf students. She is currently employed by Family Services Woodfield in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as an interpreter for deaf college students. She is a certified oral interpreter with The Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf in Washington, D.C. Her interpreting skills have taken her to many Connecticut community colleges, high schools and middle schools. She writes of those experiences in her poems in Rhyme Time, which is illustrated by Toby Mikle. In December, 2008, the author and illustrator won Honorable Mention in The London Book Festival and The New England Book Festival for Duck Tape. In 2009 Wilson and Mikle won Honorable Mention in The San Francisco Book Festival and The NYC Book Festival for Santa's Hat.

Wilson Ostroski is married to Robert J. Ostroski, a Farmington orthodontist. They have two grown daughters, Beth and Emily who still make their homes in Farmington. When not writing poetry, the author enjoys gardening in the community garden of Farmington, walking the Rails to Trails town paths, swimming and trying to play piano.
